you don't have to pay for food with neopets. in tyrannia there is a gaint omlette where you can get free food. and now there is the summer faire where you can choose one free item of food a day. and monthly freebees (2000 Np and some food) if you haven't already claimed it this month. failing that buy some cheap food. neocash is only required to buy wearables from the NC mallm, ask on the Neoboards if ur not sure
